Appoint an Independent District Commission for terms to expire September 30, 2023

REPORT TO COUNCIL As Mayor, I request Council confirmation of the following appointments to the Independent District Commission. As described in Chapter 3, Section 3-108 of the newly amended City Charter the Independent District Commission consists of thirteen members, all of whom must be residents of Portland. I am recommending the following candidates for appointments for terms running from January 19, 2023, through September 30, 2023. Commission Members (alphabetical by first name) Amanda Manjarrez Arlene Kimura David Michael Siegel DaWayne Judd Edie Van Ness Joshua Laurente Kari Chisholm Lamar Wise Melody Valdini Neisha Saxena Paul Lumley Sharon VanSickle-Robbins Steve Fleischman Due to the short timeline of this commission's work, I am recommending appointment of two additional sets of members, whose terms run from January 19, 2023 through September 30, 2023: three alternate members, who will actively participate in the work of the commission as non-voting members. They will be first in line to move into full commission membership, should any of the appointed commission members be unable to fulfil their full term. three reserve alternate members, who will not actively participate in the commission's work, but will stay informed on the work of the commission. They will be first in line to move into an alternate member role, should an alternate become a commissioner member.
