Purpose & background

City Code 2.04.160 requires the City Elections Officer to proclaim to City Council the candidates nominated, elected, and any measures approved at each City election. This report provides the official results of the Municipal Nonpartisan Primary Election held May 21, 2024 in the City of Portland. Report data is generated from certified abstracts of votes from Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties. Note: Related to this item, there is one separate mayoral proclamation on the consent agenda for June 26, 2024 proclaiming the passage of Measure 26-245, as required by City Code Section 2.04.160.

Amendment is as follows: this report now includes an amended vote abstract from Multnomah County received July 3, 2024, correcting City voter registration numbers only. The City has amended corresponding City signature thresholds required for initiative and referendum petitions in Report 585-2024 accepted by City Council on June 26, 2024. The correction has no impact on votes cast, voting totals, or the election outcome reported in Report 585-2024. Tim Scott, Director of Elections for Multnomah County, filed with the Office of the City Auditor the abstract of votes cast at the Municipal Nonpartisan Primary Election held in the City of Portland on May 21, 2024.
