Appoint and reappoint members to the Portland Elections Commission for terms to end April 30, 2027

The Portland Elections Commission provides recommendations to City Council on how to keep the Small Donor Elections program up to date with the constantly changing campaign finance and electoral landscape, issues program Administrative Rules, provides program implementation guidance, and evaluates program performance, as described in Portland City Code Chapter 2.16. Following these appointments, the Portland Elections Commission will be at full capacity with expertise in a range of areas.

There are no additional financial or budgetary impacts. Portland Elections Commissioners serve as volunteers and are not compensated. All costs are budgeted and allocated from the Small Donor Elections Fund as allowable administrative expense. Costs may include: transportation expense, food for meetings, and other services including translation/interpretation and ADA accommodation.

The Portland Elections Commission is comprised of experts and community members who collectively represent the diversity of the City, have a wide range of expertise related to the program and its implementation. The Committee deliberates using an equity and climate framework and is committed to effective public involvement and leadership in its work and in the decisions it considers. To ensure any interested community member can apply, applications to the Portland Elections Commission are accepted on a rolling basis. When there are anticipated vacancies, community groups, stakeholders, and organizations that represent underrepresented communities (by a wide range of demographic factors, including age-specific, cultural, physical ability, ethnic, racial, language, income, and neighborhood) are encouraged to identify prospective members to apply.
