As Mayor and Commissioner of Finance & Administration, I request Council confirmation of the following appointment to the Portland Parks & Recreation Board: Appointment Term Replacing Adam Lewis 06-30-2023 (Partial Term) Juan Piantino Crystal O’Grady 06-30-2025 Paddy Tillett Reappointment Erin Zollenkopf 06-30-2025 (Second Term) Adrianne Feldstein 06-30-2025 (First Full Term) Respectfully submitted, Ted Wheeler Mayor Adam Lewis Bio: Adam Lewis is a Social Impact Consultant, Strategist and Nonprofit Executive driving social justice and creating a more equitable world through play, sport and community. As a community advocate and changemaker, Lewis has ‘talked’ about play and empathy at TEDx, is the Portland Timbers Community MVP Award winner, a Multnomah Athletic Foundation Impact Award winner, a 2020 Fellow with the New Leaders Council and has been featured in the Washington Post, USA Today and the Oregonian. Currently, Lewis is collaborating with the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 to bring community-changing programs to Oregon youth, and has worked with large companies, city and county governments, athletic clubs, nonprofits and mutual aid groups around the country, and is the Founder and former Managing Director of Street Soccer USA-Portland. Lewis’ work is guided by a belief that in order to address our greatest humanitarian challenges, we must start doing the one thing that makes us human: we all love to play games. Statement of Interest: I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Portland’s diverse communities by joining the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Creating opportunities for Portlanders to find joy, reprieve and a sense of community in our parks is undoubtably a part of my story as a professional and as a person—as using sport and play to make Portland home to everyone is an integral part of who I am. As a lifelong advocate of play, sports and games for youth and adults alike, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help Portlanders fall in love with my favorite part of the city: our parks. Crystal O’Grady Bio: Crys O’Grady, J.D., is an enrolled member of the Monacan Indian Nation. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis in poverty and inequality from Stanford University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law with support from the Point Foundation Scholarship. After law school, she went on to work with the National Indian Child Welfare Association and worked on policy issues related to strengthening the implementation of the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 and then to early childhood policy for the City of Pasadena. Currently, Crys is an Operations and Policy Analyst and the Child Care and Development Fund Administrator for the State of Oregon. One of Crys’s passions is bringing innovation and equity to policy development, implementation, and government infrastructure. Statement of Interest: “As an indigenous person, I believe that we are cultivating community and stewarding the land for seven generations to come. The Portland Public Parks serve as an important place to gather and build community, I hope to work with other members of the Parks Board to ensure that all Portlanders have access to a thriving green space and public programming. Thank you for this opportunity to serve the larger Portland community.” Erin Zollenkopf Bio: Erin Zollenkopf is the CEO of Susan Matlack Jones & Associates (SMJ), a firm that specializes in accounting and bookkeeping services for non-profit organizations in Oregon and Washington. SMJ has over 125 nonprofit clients and a staff of 19. Erin serves as the Board Chair for ninety-nine girlfriends, a collective women’s giving circle, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Oregon Historical Society. Erin speaks and leads workshops in her field, including a workshop series through Regional Arts & Culture Council called DIY Accounting for Small Arts Nonprofits. Besides accounting, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, playing piano and mandolin, and adventuring outdoors. Erin is a fifth generation Oregonian who grew up in NE Portland. She graduated from Portland State University with a degree in English in 2008. Interest Statement: All my life I have benefited from Portland’s parks and recreation centers. From learning how to swim, to hiking through forest park, to going with my three-year old to explore and play at Westmoreland Park; these experiences have helped develop me as an individual and connect me with my children in meaningful ways. I hope to continue to give back to the community in what way I can by serving on the Portland Parks board. Adrianne Feldstein Bio: Adrianne is a physician at Kaiser Permanente Northwest, a swim instructor with PP&R, and a landscape painter and resides in NE Portland. Adrianne has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition from Columbia University, and received their Medical Doctorate from George Washington University School of Medicine. Adrianne has demonstrated commitment and experience working with a diversity of people through their work as a public health physician. As a young woman in the sciences and medicine, Adrianne was deeply involved in the reproductive rights movement and in Physicians for Social responsibility and Physicians for a National Health program. Throughout Adrianne’s career they have provided health services to migrant farmworkers and people experiencing homelessness and have also worked to improve worker safety and reduce hazardous exposures. As a population health director at Kaiser Permanente, Adrianne evaluated outcomes to look for inequalities and developed corrective programs. Statement of Interest: I have loved supporting the Portland Parks and Recreation vision as a board member this last year. The department is entering a phase of renewal and growth and I would be very pleased to continue to contribute as a board member. This diverse and active group does great advocacy and work.
