Purpose & background

The Community Health Paramedic will render medical care, including providing buprenorphine treatment for patients in withdrawal, in the Portland Fire and Rescue Community Health Section in the Medical Services and Training division.

Financial impacts

There is no direct cost to create the new classifications. The Community Health paramedic will have a pay range of $74,334 to $102,219 annual full time. Initial positions are part of pilot programs created in collaboration with CareOregon and Multnomah County.

The City of Portland ordains: Section 1. The Council finds: In accordance with the policies established by the City Council and based on a classification and compensation review, the Bureau of Human Resources is creating one (1) new non-represented classification and establishing a compensation rate, effective 30 days after final passage. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs: The following classification is being created: Job Class Pay Range Community Health Paramedic $74,334 to $102,219 annual full time
