Appoint members to the Independent Salary Commission for terms to expire August 31, 2023

As Mayor, I request Council confirmation of the following appointment to the Salary Commission. As described in Chapter 2, Section 2-207 of the amended City Charter the Salary Commission consists of five members, all of whom must be residents of Portland who are qualified human resources professionals with compensation experience. They may not be elected or appointed city officials or employees, or candidates for City office. The Salary Commission sets the salaries for city councilors, mayor, and the auditor by an affirmative vote of at least three commissioners. These salaries will go into effect July 1 of each odd year, except this first commission’s salaries, which will take effect January 1, 2025. I am recommending the following candidates for appointments for terms running from March 9, 2023, through August 31, 2023. I am also recommending appointing two alternate commission members, who will also have terms from March 9, 2023. to August 31, 2023. The alternate members will participate in the work of the commission but are not voting members.
